To provide our service, we collect a limited amount of information. We are committed to collecting only what is necessary for the app's functionality.

  • Information You Provide: To create your user profile, you provide a nickname, your age, and your gender. You also select the age and gender of the users you are interested in connecting with. This information is used solely for matching purposes.
  • Device Identifier: We use your device's unique identifier to distinguish your account and manage your chat sessions. This identifier is not linked to your real-world identity.
  • Location Data (Optional): If you enable the 'Seek Nearby' premium feature, we collect your device's GPS coordinates to match you with users within your specified radius. This location data is used only during active matching sessions and is not stored permanently on our servers. You can disable this feature at any time in your app settings. Location data is never shared with other users beyond the general proximity matching.
  • Purchase Information: If you make in-app purchases, we store your device ID linked to your purchase receipts for verification purposes only. We do not store credit card information or payment details - these are handled securely by Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Data Stored Locally: Your profile information (nickname, age, gender) is stored on your device for your convenience.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to facilitate the chat functionality of the app. Specifically, we:

  • Connect users randomly based on topics of interest.
  • Enable nickname sharing between users during active chat sessions.

No information is stored on our servers, ensuring your data remains private and secure.

How We Protect Your Information

We take your privacy and security seriously. We implement the following measures to protect your information:

  • End-to-End Encryption: All chat conversations are end-to-end encrypted. This means that we, the developers of Kalamni, cannot read, monitor, or access the content of your messages.
  • No Chat History: Chat sessions are ephemeral and stored only in your device's memory during an active chat. Once a user disconnects, the entire chat history is immediately and permanently wiped. We do not store any chat logs on our servers.
  • Secure Data Transmission: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is protected using industry-standard encryption protocols (TLS/SSL).

Sharing Your Information

Kalamni is designed to respect your privacy. We do not sell, trade, or rent any personal information. Your nickname is shared only with the user you connect with during an active chat session, and no other personal information is disclosed.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: Access and manage your local data stored on your device through the app's profile settings.
  • Modification: Update your nickname, age, gender, and interests at any time.
  • Deletion: Request account deletion through the 'Delete Account' option in your profile settings (see Account Deletion section below).
  • Data Portability: Since your profile data is stored locally on your device, you have full control and can export it at any time.
  • Opt-Out: Disable location services or notifications at any time through your device settings or app preferences.

Account Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your account at any time. Here's what you need to know:

What Data is Deleted

  • Your device ID and authentication credentials stored on our servers
  • Your purchase history and premium access records
  • Any notification triggers you have set

What Data is NOT Stored (and Therefore Not Deleted)

  • Your nickname, age, gender, and interests (stored only on your device)
  • Chat history (automatically deleted after each session)
  • Location data (used only during active sessions, not stored)

Deletion Process

  1. Navigate to your Profile settings and tap 'Delete Account'
  2. Review the confirmation message explaining what will be deleted
  3. Your account will be marked for deletion and scheduled for permanent removal in 30 days
  4. During the 30-day grace period, you can cancel the deletion by simply logging back into the app
  5. After 30 days, your account and associated data will be permanently deleted from our servers
  6. You will be immediately logged out and will need to create a new account to use the app again

Important: If you delete your account, you will lose access to any premium features you have purchased. Purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable. Blocked users cannot request account deletion.

Data Retention

We retain different types of data for varying periods:

  • Device ID and Authentication Data: Retained for the lifetime of your account or until you request deletion
  • Purchase Records: Retained for the duration of your premium access plus 90 days for refund/dispute purposes
  • Chat Messages: Deleted immediately upon session disconnection (not stored on servers)
  • Location Data: Used only during active matching, not stored permanently
  • Notification Tokens: Retained until you disable notifications or delete your account

Third-Party Services

Kalamni uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging: For push notifications. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store: For in-app purchases. Subject to Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies.

We do not share your personal information with these services beyond what is necessary for their functionality.

Children's Privacy

Kalamni is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that a user is under 16, we will immediately terminate their account and delete any associated data.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.

Prohibited Topics and Content

To ensure compliance with app store guidelines and provide a safe environment, Kalamni monitors topics and prohibits the following content:

  • Profanity or offensive language.
  • Hate speech or discriminatory remarks.
  • Illegal activities or explicit content.
  • Scams, spam, or fraudulent schemes.

Topics containing prohibited content are flagged and disallowed to maintain the safety and integrity of the platform.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes. Continued use of Kalamni after changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes acceptance of those changes.
